Joe Burrow reveals new training secrets in the upcoming cover issue of his Men’s Health magazine.

Burrow’s Get NFL Strong, which was released nationally on Sept. 2, looks at how injuries forced the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback to rethink his fitness and nutrition strategy. He also revealed four exercises he’s incorporated into his training program:

  • Bear crawls.
  • Farmer’s walks with 45-pound weights.
  • One leg skater squats.
  • Isometric Bulgarian squats.

The NFL superstar says he changed his mind about strength, fitness and endurance after tearing a ligament in his right wrist in a Week 11 game against the Baltimore Ravens last season. He landed on the injured list twice in his professional football career, but Burrow said he “can’t let that happen again.”

“The most important thing for me this year is just being out there with the guys… and being available,” Burrow told Men’s Health.

To be on the field for the 2024 NFL season, Burrow has put on an additional 10 to 15 pounds of muscle by incorporating new exercises into his training plan, hiring a nutritionist and a chef, developing a new hydration program around BodyArmor drinks and refocusing his mental focus.

“I think part (of building mental toughness) is just doing really hard, really tough stuff – finding that place in your head where you can go and fight through it,” Burrow added.
