Atlanta Airport sends totally stupid tweet after two people die

The person who manages the X account for Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport is probably having a bad day.

Two Delta Airlines employees were killed on Tuesday in a horrific tire explosion that sent a piece of metal flying. Another person was seriously injured.

It’s a really sad situation and generally, condolences are short and sweet, but that’s not what Atlanta Airport did on social media.

Atlanta Airport criticized for incredibly stupid tweet.

Instead of keeping it simple or saying nothing at all, the airport’s official X-account sent one of the wildest condolences you’ll ever see.

The problem? The person who wrote the statement chose to include Delta’s slogan “Keep Climbing” in the message.

“We extend our sincere condolences to our partners as they continue to persevere during this difficult time,” the statement said.

To drop a reference to “Keep Climbing” after two people were killed and two families were destroyed is just unrealistic. I had to check three times to make sure this was true, and it is true.

People were not impressed and gave their opinion in the comments:

This is, quite frankly, brain-dead thinking. In what world does it make sense to insert a corporate slogan into a statement about the death of two people?

This is beyond stupid. The fact that it is still active after almost a day makes it even worse. The people running the account could have changed it at any time and chose not to.

Sometimes it’s okay to stop and think before hitting the send button. It’s really not complicated. Let me know what you think at [email protected].
