The nonprofit Tennessee Performing Arts Center® announces its highly anticipated 2024–25 International Dance Series, a captivating exploration of global dance traditions and innovations featuring four world-renowned dance companies.

From the bold innovations of modern dance with the MARTHA GRAHAM DANCE COMPANY and the PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY to the vibrant cultural expressions of BALLET FOLKLÓRICO DE MÉXICO and the timeless elegance of classical ballet with the JOFFREY BALLET, this season offers a diverse and broad spectrum of movement through the world of dance. Each performance promises to be a unique celebration of rhythm, storytelling and artistic excellence.

Series ticket packages are now available on TPAC.ORG, by phone at 615-782-4040, and in person at the TPAC Box Office, 505 Deaderick St., in downtown Nashville. For groups of 10 or more, call 615-782-4060. Customers are encouraged to have tickets delivered to the TPAC Concierge app.

Series ticket buyers can also add NEW DIALECT’s world premiere full-length production of 21 YESES to their package. For this piece, the local Nashville dance company combines contemporary dance practice with lighting technologies from the concert industry. Choreographer Banning Bouldin and production designer Michael Brown (Bon Iver) create an experience where movement and light capture and release each other, amid the awe of endless distance.

MARTHA GRAHAM DANCE COMPANY
31 January – 1 February 2025

The oldest dance company in the United States and the oldest integrated dance company, the MARTHA GRAHAM DANCE COMPANY brings three unique works to Nashville for its 100th anniversary. Martha Graham’s ballets were inspired by a variety of sources, including the American frontier with Appalachian Spring, a nod to American folk music with We the People, and techno club scenes with CAVE. The company continues to nurture Graham’s ingenuity and remains a leader by catalyzing new works with commissions that bring new perspectives to dance classics.

Folkloric Ballet of Mexico
7-8 March 2025

Founded by dancer and choreographer Amalia Hernández, BALLET FOLKLÓRICO DE MÉXICO brings together music, dance and costumes of Mexican folklore from pre-Columbian civilizations to the modern era. Hernández dedicated her time to researching the folklore, music, costumes and dances of the states that make up Mexico as a country and brought them to life in a unique way, creating performances that are a true portrait of Mexico’s beauty, diversity and rich history through music and dance. The ballet has its permanent residence at the iconic Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City and continues to perform in Mexico and abroad.

PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY
30 to 31 May 2025

The PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY is one of the world’s leading dance companies and is considered an innovator and pioneer of modern dance. Under the artistic direction of Michael Novak and with a history of multidisciplinary collaboration, passionate expression and thrilling athleticism, the company is known for an extensive repertoire that includes works from the founder’s canon, new works by some of today’s most committed choreographers, as well as established and important historical dances of the 20th and 21st centuries. The company aims to bring modern dance to the widest possible audience and tours annually at home and abroad.

THE JOFFREY BALLET
28 – 29 June 2025

Chicago’s internationally acclaimed THE JOFFREY BALLET presents a unique repertoire that includes masterpieces from the past and innovative works from today, including the Nashville premiere of Golden Hour. Enjoy this radiant mixed repertoire program full of warmth and splendor, including Dani Rowe’s The Princess and the Pea, a modern reinterpretation of the classic fairytale with music by Jim Stephenson; Cathy Marston’s Homeland, a magnificent symphonic poem set to dance and composed by Richard Wagner; and Nicolas Blanc’s Under the Trees’ Voices, set to Ezio Bosso’s 2nd Symphony.
