Police in Delaware County are investigating after a man reportedly broke into a Linwood daycare, stripped naked and then jumped out of a second-story window into the street on Thursday, August 22, 2024, as police arrived on the scene.

According to police, officers with the Lower Chichester Police Department responded to Sonrise Christian Day School in the 1600 block of Chichester Avenue at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, after being notified that a man was armed with scissors and attempting to break into the early education center.

The first officer on the scene reportedly found clothing scattered throughout the lobby of the building. A person present there told him that the person – identified by officers as 18-year-old Saheir Sadler-Chandler – had gone to the second floor of the building.

As the officer walked up the stairs, he heard “loud knocking and then the sound of breaking glass,” according to police.

Once upstairs, officials said, the officer found a broken window and learned that Sadler-Chandler had jumped from the second floor of the building.

Additional officers who arrived at the scene found Sadler-Chandler, “obviously injured,” lying naked and covered in blood on the street in traffic outside the building, according to police officials.

Sadler-Chandler was taken into custody at the time, but officials said he spat blood and saliva at emergency responders while receiving medical treatment.

Sadler-Chandler was charged with burglary, simple assault, trespassing, public intoxication and related offenses.
