Sydney teenager dies after falling from balcony with Gold Coast students

A Schoolies school trip ended in tragedy after a Sydney teenager fell from a high-rise building on the Gold Coast and died.

Hamish Bidgood was reportedly alone when he fell from the 10th floor of the Surf Regency Apartments on Laycock Street in Surfers Paradise in the early hours of Thursday morning.

He was found in the pool area at the base of the building, where paramedics later performed CPR. They were unable to save him.

The police are now investigating whether the 18-year-old inhaled laughing gas before the fall.
