NCT member Taeil expelled from the group for alleged involvement in sex crimes; investigations ongoing
Taeil, a member of the world-famous K-pop boy group NCT, is embroiled in allegations of sexual assault. SM Entertainment has just announced that Taeil has been expelled from NCT due to allegations of sexual assault. Taeil’s alleged sexual assault case is currently under investigation.
On August 28, 2024, SM Entertainment released an official statement on its social media channels announcing that Taeil was expelled from NCT due to being accused of a sex crime in a case.
SM Entertainment’s announcement said they had confirmed that Taeil was charged in a criminal case related to a sex crime. The agency added that while they confirmed the facts, they recognized the seriousness of the matter and decided that “it was no longer possible for him (Taeil) to continue team activities.”
He added that after extensive discussions with Taeil, it was decided that he would leave the group.
The NCT agency also assured: “Taeil is diligently participating in the police investigation and we will make further statements as the investigation progresses.”
In the end, SM Entertainment apologized for the controversy their artist had caused.
It should be noted that further details about Taeil’s alleged sexual offense remain completely confidential.
Meanwhile, after a short break due to a bone fracture and surgery, Taeil recently participated in WALK’s comeback with NCT 127.
Taeil made his NCT debut in April 2016 with NCT U and in July of the same year with NCT 127. Taeil was part of the original lineup and debuted with NCT 127 on July 7, 2016 with their debut EP NCT #127.
NCT 127 is known worldwide for their experimental hip-hop music, which has since created a wave in K-pop along with their admirable rapping, singing, and stage presence. Since their debut, they have also shown outstanding performances with their intricate choreographies.
NCT 127 last made a comeback on July 15, 2024 with their sixth studio album WALK, along with a fiery music video for the title track. The group later performed the walk challenge as a full group when leader Taeyong joined during his military service.
