Dead Island 2 Developer Dambuster Studios announced earlier this year that it was planning major updates for the zombie-killing action RPG, and has now revealed more details on that. On October 22, the studio will release a major new update for the game for free in the form of Patch 6, which adds several new features.

The most important of these will be a New Game Plus option, which players have been requesting for some time. New Game Plus not only allows players to start a new save using their progress from a completed game, but also offers an additional skill slot, a higher level cap, entirely new skills and weapons, new enemies to defeat, and an increased difficulty level.

Then there’s Neighborhood Watch, a new co-op horde mode where players take on the role of the Bobcats and protect their fraternity house from attacking zombie hordes. The mode also brings new mechanics, weapons and skins, as well as an entirely new setting.

“Team up with your crew to complete missions, set traps, and build a deadly arsenal,” Dambuster writes of the mode. “And then… prepare for the fifth and final day, when the zombie onslaught hits hard. If your defenses and teamwork are good enough, you might just live to tell the tale. Plus, you’ll constantly unlock new abilities that make each run wilder and more exciting than the last.”

More details on Patch 6 will be announced in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Dead Island 2 is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
