More details emerge about the fiery car crash with fatalities Fast and the Furious Star Paul Walker and one other person.

Fans and fellow actors mourned the death of Paul Walker, best known as undercover agent Brian O’Connor in the “Fast and Furious” action films, in a serious car accident in California on Sunday.

Walker, 40, appeared in all six films in the popular franchise but one, starring alongside Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez as one of its main protagonists.

“It is with truly heavy hearts that we confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide,” the late actor’s press agents wrote on his Facebook account on Saturday.

“He was a passenger in a friend’s car in which both of them lost their lives.”

The publicists wrote that they were “stunned and incredibly saddened by this news.” The message was also linked to Walker’s Twitter account.

Walker was killed when the red Porsche sports car he was traveling in crashed into a tree and caught fire in the city of Santa Clarita in Los Angeles County at around 3:30 p.m. (11:30 p.m. GMT) on Saturday, local media reported.

Witnesses recognized Walker and a bystander even tried to pull him out of the wreckage, said local Santa Clarita Valley Signal The newspaper reported.

The sheriff’s department said speed was a factor in the accident.

Walker took a break over Thanksgiving from filming the seventh “Fast and Furious” movie, which was scheduled to be released in July.

The crew had been filming in Atlanta and, according to the Hollywood Reporter, wanted to travel to Abu Dhabi in January.

Walker had attended a fundraiser for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The event was organized for Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW), a nonprofit disaster relief organization founded by the actor.

ROWW has sent teams of experts to respond to natural disasters such as the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 or tornado-stricken cities in the United States.

“Brother, I will miss you very much,” wrote Hollywood star Diesel on his Instagram account. “I am absolutely speechless. Heaven has a new angel. Rest in peace.”

Another Fast and Furious co-star, Ludacris, wrote on Twitter: “Your humble spirit was palpable from the start. Wherever you were blessed with your presence, you always left a mark. We were like brothers and our birthdays are only a day apart. Now you will forever have a place in all of our hearts. @paulwalker’s legacy will live on forever.”

And former wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who also appears in the series, wrote: “All my strength, love and faith to the Walker family during this heartbreaking time. We find our strength… in his light. I love you brother.”

The late actor leaves behind his 15-year-old daughter Meadow.

In real life, Walker raced cars, described himself on Twitter as an “outdoorsman, ocean addict” and “adrenaline junkie,” and did many of his own film stunts. In contrast to his roles in action films, Walker is set to appear in “Hours,” an independent film set to be released in mid-December about a father trying to keep his ailing young daughter alive after Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans in 2005. Walker was also set to star in the 2014 crime action film “Brick Mansions,” a remake of the 2004 French film District B13. Before his breakout role in “Fast and Furious,” Walker appeared in television commercials as a child and appeared in several 1980s television shows. He became a teen heartthrob and appeared in films such as Pleasantville (1988), She’s All That and Varsity Blues (both 1999). The first Fast and Furious film was released in 2001.

The series, with its focus on fast cars, tough guys, sexy starlets and exotic locations, is one of Hollywood’s most lucrative franchises worldwide. Fans expressed their grief on social media, including on the franchise’s Instagram and Facebook pages. More than a million people either liked the obituary on Walker’s Facebook page or commented in various languages. “Fast and Furious won’t be the same without you, Paul!!,” wrote fan Sedat Yildirim.
