Police in Petaluma are searching for the thieves responsible for a string of thefts in two neighborhoods. In one case, a family’s pet rabbit was stolen from its enclosure, officials say.

On Tuesday, police issued a press release with images and surveillance video of two thieves robbing the Cerro Sonoma and South Gate neighborhoods in the early morning hours of August 26.

The video shared by police comes from YouTube user Ben Philpot, who wrote: “Please help us find the thieves but more importantly bring our beloved Snowy back to our family.”

A photo of the bunny, Snowy, in the arms of a little girl was released by police with the family’s permission. Snowy’s whereabouts are unknown, but police said the thieves took the rabbit.

In other cases, according to police, the cars were already unlocked, but some vehicles had their windows smashed.

Other items stolen include money, wallets, identification, Beats headphones, GPS devices, a compound bow and two air rifles.

According to police, in one of the thefts the perpetrators gained access to a garage door opener to open a resident’s garage and then rummaged through the cabinets.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Petaluma Police Department at (707) 778-4372.
