Robert F. Kennedy Jr. removed from Nevada’s November ballot

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will not appear on the Nevada general election ballot due to a court order approved Tuesday by a judge in Carson City.

Kennedy had qualified for the ballot after a dispute with the Secretary of State’s office over failure to comply with state law in submitting signatures in support of his independent candidacy.

But on Friday, Kennedy announced that he would suspend his campaign. At a rally in Arizona, he supported Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump.

Two Nevada voters had filed a lawsuit against Kennedy and the state’s Secretary of State in an attempt to disqualify Kennedy from the election.

On Friday, as news of Kennedy’s withdrawal broke, the judge signed an agreement dismissing the lawsuit and confirming that Kennedy and his running mate Nicole Shanahan would be removed from the ballot.

The move is likely to help both Trump and the Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, by removing an alternative for voters who are unhappy with either candidate. However, candidates from the Libertarian, Independent American and Green parties will still appear on the ballot, along with “None of these candidates.”

When Kennedy stopped campaigning, the deadline for removing his name from the ballot had already passed, but the court order is sufficient to remove it.
