5 Alternatives to Home Depot Skelly

The Halloween shopping season has already begun and it looks like this year everything will be dominated by giant skeletons.

Skelly, Home Depot’s official name for the 12-foot-tall skeleton figure that first went viral in 2020, returned this year with numerous new features, including an accessory set and a new pet.

The newest and limited edition Skelly model with a rotating head, called the “Servo Skelly,” will be sold exclusively online this year for $379. The original Skelly model costs $299, and the 7-foot Skelly Dog is available for $199.

However, fans of Halloween decorations know that it has sometimes been difficult to get a real skeleton since the item first went viral. Other decorators may be interested in adding a few big and mighty skeleton friends to their collection, but on a tighter budget.

Looking for an alternative, duplicate, or simply a complement to the 12-foot Home Depot Skelly that still offers strong performance? We have options.

Joann, 2.44 m tall skeleton

Joann stores no longer only sell handicrafts, but also accessories for your spooky skeleton needs.

Joann’s animated Halloween skeleton is still larger than life at 8 feet tall, even if it’s not quite as massive as Skelly. In addition to its imposing stature, this skeleton also adds to the spooky atmosphere with its glowing blue eyes.

A fun (and perhaps unusual) bonus? The 2.5-foot-long crocodile skeleton you can buy with it. What’s a cooler pet – a dog or a crocodile?

Walmart 10 Foot Tall Moving Skeleton

Also standing at 10 feet tall, the Walmart Way To Celebrate 10ft Giant Poseable Skeleton is another Skelly alternative that is big enough and menacing in its own way.

The Walmart skeleton has a more sinister expression than some of its peers, has movable limbs and joints, is waterproof, and is ready to cause a Christmas scare or two.

How to get it: The 10-foot-tall, posable skeleton sells online and in stores for $289.

Big Lots 10 Foot Tall Skeleton and 3.9 Foot Tall Skeleton Dog

Looking to add a distinctive skeleton character and canine friend to your exhibit this year without a few feet and a few dollars? Big Lots has a solid alternative.

The discount chain has released a 10-foot-tall, posable LED skeleton for the 2024 season that costs about $70 less than OG Skelly. This skeleton is posable, has glowing red eyes, and is about two feet smaller, meaning it might be better suited to smaller spaces (at least comparatively).

To complement the 10-foot-tall skeleton, Big Lots also comes with a canine companion that’s also a bit smaller than Skelly’s pooch. The 4-foot-tall and 5-inch-long pup (compared to Skelly’s 7-foot-tall) has sound-activated glowing red eyes and a jaw that moves when he barks. He also comes with a leash so you can responsibly hold your undead dog.

Tractor Supply 6 Foot Skeleton Tap

We’ve seen circus and underwater-themed decorations for this year’s Halloween season – but how about a haunted farm?

Fittingly and uniquely for the Tractor Supply brand, the accessories store has released a 6-foot tall skeleton rooster this season. Perhaps the most imposing animal friend yet, the giant chicken is large and can withstand outdoor weather conditions.

Complete with a bone crest on the head, a wattle under the beak (yes, that’s the name for the dangling part of a rooster’s neck), and impressive tail feathers, this decoration is a Tractor Supply exclusive.

How to get it: The 6-foot tall skeleton rooster is available online and at Tractor Supply stores for $299.99.

Party City 5.3-footer shakes up groundbreaking skeleton

Looking to add some variety to the world of giant skeleton decorations? Party City has a still massive, (literally) groundbreaking option for you.

This giant skeleton, named “Rattles,” is 1.62 meters tall – at least the upper half, because the lower half is still in his grave.

Rattles is crazy about your garden, where he can be staked to make it appear as though he’s digging his way out of the earth. The top half of his ribcage protrudes from the ground as his arms lift him deeper into the land of the living. He also has a big open-mouth grin – ideal for greeting the neighbors.

How to get it: You can purchase “Rattles the Skeleton” in stores and online for $299.99.
