Two of the biggest artists in the world have come together to release a song for the summer hit: Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars will release their new song “Die With a Smile” and its accompanying music video on Friday (August 15) at midnight ET.

The musicians gave their fans little warning before unveiling the new project, whose existence they only confirmed less than 12 hours before its release. Gaga simply posted the cover – which features the duo posing in matching red and blue retro outfits – and wrote: “WHILE YOU WAIT FOR LG7… “DIE WITH A SMILE” a duet with @brunomars ❤️‍🔥”

However, the “Rain on Me” singer gave a sneak peek of the collaboration two days earlier, sharing a low-key video of herself playing a tune on the piano while wearing a T-shirt with Mars’ face on it. Fans were in agreement when they noticed her commenting with emojis on band member Silk Sonic’s Instagram post.

It’s been a while since either artist released proper solo music. Gaga’s last album Chromatica fell in 2020, while Mars’ 24K Magic is approaching its eighth anniversary. The former debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, the latter at number two.

Luckily for her fans, the Haus Labs founder plans to release another album soon, something she has hinted at several times on social media. She also played snippets of two songs from the project for fans gathered outside her hotel in Paris, where she performed during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games.
