Fast ferry Kingston-Seattle cancelled until further notice

All Kingston Fast Ferry service to and from Seattle has been suspended and there is no set date for resumption of service.

In July, Kitsap Transit reported problems with its mainline ferries on the Southworth and Kingston routes, noting that it would take several months for a manufacturer to produce and deliver a specific part needed to fix the mechanical problems. Since that announcement, both routes have operated without a replacement vessel.

In August, the main ferry to Kingston required repairs, requiring Rich Passage 1 (RP1) to operate. However, due to mechanical problems with another ferry in Bremerton, Kitsap Transit has reassigned RP1 to maintain a two-boat schedule there.

According to Kitsap Transit, this decision affects the Bremerton and Southworth routes because if one of the ferries breaks down on these routes, there are no alternative services and therefore possible cancellations may occur.

Kingston fast ferry cancelled: What options do I have?

Officials say Kitsap Transit pass holders can obtain a Washington State Ferries ticket in Seattle by seeing an agent at the passenger-only ferry terminal in Seattle. Travelers can also reach Seattle via Kitsap Transit’s scheduled buses, which have transfers to the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal. Bus transfer routes can be found here.

Travelers driving can also reach Seattle by taking the Kingston/Edmonds ferry and then continuing on I-5.

How do I get from Kingston to Bainbridge?

According to Kitsap Transit, travelers can take the Kingston/Suquamish bus #302 and then transfer to either the Silverdale/Bainbridge bus #333 or the Poulsbo/Bainbridge bus #390. Another option would be to take the Kingston/North Viking bus #307 and then transfer to the Poulsbo/Bainbridge bus #390.

Kitsap Transit says anyone with questions can contact customer service at 360-373-2877 or 800-501-RIDE.
