Moshier brings drinks cart to street dance

HOISINGTON — Labor Day weekend will see a new mobile beverage cart at the Hoisington street dance inspired by a local’s personal health story. The cart will offer refreshing, non-alcoholic alternatives for those who want a celebratory beverage without the booze.

The idea for the cart came after founder Michelle Moshier experienced improvements in her health by cutting out caffeine and wine. Her passion for wellness and increased awareness of the cancer risks of alcohol, especially for women, motivated her to create fun and flavorful non-alcoholic beverages.

After completing a 10-week CO.STARTERS course with Great Bend Economic Development, Moshier turned this need into a passion side project called “Can Do Drinks.”

The cart will offer more complex and satisfying beverages than traditional sodas and water, including non-alcoholic craft malt beverages, hoppy water and premium non-alcoholic sparkling water. Notably, it will be the first stand in Barton County to offer White Claw non-alcoholic sparkling water, which is not yet available in local stores.

“I’m excited to be part of this year’s Labor Day festivities,” said Moshier. “My goal is to offer something special for those who may otherwise feel left out when it comes to a night out. Whether you’re avoiding it for health reasons or prefer something else, I have delicious options for you.”

Previously, Moshier introduced her brand of Ceria non-alcoholic beverages, “Can Do Drinks,” to the 21-and-over crowd in the tent city at Hoisington’s stopover event, “Biking Across Kansas,” at the Hoisington Activity Center.

Moshier pointed out that Ceria was founded by legendary brewmaster Keith Villa and his wife, Jodi Villa. Keith created Blue Moon beer and was brewmaster at Coors Brewing Co. “Ceria Brewing is now dedicated exclusively to producing non-alcoholic craft beverages,” she said. “Keith developed a patented process to produce non-alcoholic beer with body, flavor and head. I’m excited to be able to help provide the BAK Group with a great experience during their stay in Hoisington.”

On September 1st, the mobile beverage cart will be conveniently located on Main Street, just to the right of the homebrew stage and across from the beer garden. In the future, Moshier plans to bring Can Do Drinks to Final Friday events, offering another option during these popular community gatherings.

Can Do Drinks not only serves delicious drinks, but also wants to give back to the community. All cans are recycled, supporting the organization Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer.

To encourage attendees to try these refreshing alternatives, Moshier added, “If you haven’t thought about trying a non-alcoholic beverage before, this is a great opportunity. Why not add ‘zebra stripes’ to your drink selection? Start with one non-alcoholic option, then switch to your usual, and perhaps end the evening with another non-alcoholic option, alternating throughout the evening. Non-alcoholic beverages generally have fewer calories, which can be particularly beneficial during a long weekend celebration like Hoisington’s Labor Day event.”

With a drinks menu that appeals to a wide range of tastes, this new operator promises to add a refreshing twist to this year’s street dancing.
