Our heads are still spinning from the news that Kelly Monaco is being killed General Hospitalwhere she has played Sam McCall for over 20 years. But even in our dazed state, we also think, “If the show really has to go there, How?”

As it is, the daily drama has only And The Davis women are grappling with the death of Molly/Kristina’s daughter. What on earth could bring about Sam’s unfortunate end, especially since she is determined to avoid her ex-husband Jason’s life of crime and the dangers that come with it? Our best guess…

Sam gets caught in the crossfire

As hell-bent as Kristina is on avenging poor Adela’s death, she may also have her sights set on Ava, the woman she blames for the tragedy. Sam, being the good sister she is, may try to intervene so Kristina doesn’t do anything she regrets. Boom, the gun goes, and instead of killing Ava, Kristina accidentally shoots Sam.

Sam could experience a “Lesley Webber”

Accidents happen. Remember when Denise Alexander left General Hospital and Lesley was killed in a car accident? Something so random could cost Sam his life. It would be painful as hell, but also a sobering reminder of how short and unpredictable life is.

Sam could die while saving Dante

By the looks of things, Lulu will have a tough job to do when she wakes up from her coma hoping to be reunited with Dante. He’s completely behind Sam. But a repeat of “Lante” could be even more difficult if Sam dies on the job while protecting Dante. Even if he did feel attracted to Lulu again in hindsight, he would feel so guilty about Sam’s departure that he would do a backflip to avoid giving in to those feelings and betraying the memory of his lost love.

Sam becomes victim of a mob

Although Sam has distanced herself as much as possible from Jason’s criminal activities, she would have no choice but to take action if she feared that her son Danny was putting herself in danger. Of course, this would put Sam herself in the line of fire. Perhaps her death would be the deciding factor in convincing Jason to give up his career as Sonny’s right-hand man?

A long lost love could kidnap Sam

Our favorite idea, because it allows for a possible return, is that Sam is “killed” by Port Charles Vampire Caleb Morley, who wants to turn Livvie Locke’s doppelgänger into a replica of his old flame. While Dante and everyone who loves Sam mourns, she enjoys her afterlife with the bloodsucker determined to turn her into a fang. Er, a fan.
