3 hikers die in whirlpool during natural disaster in parks

Three hikers died when they were sucked into a powerful whirlpool near California’s popular Seven Teacups Trail.

David Bell, Jeannine Skinner and Peter On, all from Utahwere making their way through stunning canyons in the Sierra Nevada Mountains when Skinner found himself caught in a raging whirlpool.

The two men jumped in to help, but all three died on Friday.

David Bell’s sister, Cyndi Bell Miller, posted on social media that emergency responders tried to resuscitate the three but arrived too late.

“They were able to get the bodies out in about seven minutes … and performed CPR for about 20 minutes, but they were unable to revive any of them,” she wrote.

They were all experienced outdoorsmen, Bell’s family told Inside Edition.

“David was incredibly strong,” said a relative.

Nature also raged in parts of the Grand Canyon when deadly flash floods devastated the area.

Some tourists had to be rescued by helicopter.

“We know when it’s time to run, and it’s time to run!” said one stranded visitor.

Latricia Mimbs says a friend told her to run to higher ground if she heard thunder.

“That warning 100% saved our lives,” she told Inside Edition. “Our campsite was by the river.”
