Favor launches HEB Now for ultra-fast grocery delivery

Favor Delivery, the HEB-owned delivery service that offers groceries, restaurant meals, alcohol and household items in Texas, is getting into the ultra-fast delivery business.

The Austin-based company launched HEB Now on Aug. 16, which lets customers get up to 15 items delivered in 45 minutes or less. As a bonus, there are no delivery or service fees on orders over $25 through the end of the year.

“This new service underscores our commitment to spreading Texas hospitality throughout our home state by providing Texans with a quick and convenient way to meet their last-minute grocery needs at their favorite HEB grocer,” said Chris Rogge, senior director of brand and creative at Favor, in a statement.

Shoppers can access a new “HEB” tab in the Favor app and find all of the store’s staples plus, depending on location, beer and wine, HEB Sushiya, True Texas BBQ, Blooms by HEB and more.

HEB purchased Austin-based Favor in 2018, five years after its founding. Favor now operates in more than 400 cities in Texas, including the Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, San Antonio and Houston metro areas. The company employs more than 100,000 drivers, or “runners,” who have delivered more than 90 million orders to date.

HEB Now is the San Antonio-based grocery chain’s latest foray into digital services. In mid-August, the company introduced tap-to-pay at all of its Central Market stores.
