Punxsy woman charged with assault after allegedly throwing water bottles at her fiancé during an argument

BELL TWP., Pennsylvania (EYT) — A Punxsutawney woman faces assault charges for throwing several full plastic water bottles in her fiancé’s face during an argument in Bell Township, police said.

Court documents show that Punxsutawney State Police have filed charges against the 57-year-old Della Esther Greenof Punxsutawney, in the office of District Judge Jacqueline Mizerock on Monday, August 26.

According to the criminal complaint, PSP Punxsutawney was called to the 400 block of Airport Road in Bell Township, Jefferson County, at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, for an acute domestic disturbance.

The police arrived on the scene and spoke with Della Greenwho reported that she and her fiancé were involved in a verbal argument because he made “rude comments” about her dress. During that argument, the victim allegedly threw water on her, causing Green to throw several full plastic bottles at him, hitting his face, according to the complaint.

The complaint notes that the two people continued to yell at each other while Green called 9-1-1 before leaving the home. Green told police she did not suffer any injuries during the incident, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, officers then spoke with the victim, who allegedly said he made comments to Green about an inappropriate dress she wanted to wear to church. The victim stated that Green became angry and began throwing plastic bottles at him, with several bottles hitting his face.

While speaking with the victim, police noticed redness and swelling on his forehead along his hairline as well as fresh small cuts on his chin, the complaint states.

When asked, the victim told police that he suffered the injuries described above from the water bottles that Green threw at him, the complaint continues.

Green was taken into custody and transported to PSP Punxsutawney Barracks where she was fingerprinted and photographed and charges were prepared.

She was arraigned on Sunday, August 25, at 1:11 p.m. before Judge Mizerock for the following offenses:

  • Simple assault, misdemeanor 2
  • Harassment – ​​Physically harassing others, summary

She is currently free on $5,000 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 5 at 9:15 a.m. with Judge Mizerock presiding.
