NASCAR Cup Series coming to Mexico in 2025

For the first time in over 60 years, the NASCAR Cup Series will participate in an international points race that stops in Mexico in June 2025.

As announced during a press conference in Mexico on Tuesday, the event will take place on Sunday, June 15, at the 2.674-mile, 17-turn Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit. The NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Mexico Series will also be held that weekend.

Prime Video will broadcast the Cup Series race. The CW will broadcast the Xfinity Series.

“This is a historic moment for our sport and especially for the NASCAR Cup Series as we expand our presence to Mexico,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s executive vice president and chief venue and racing innovation officer. “We have been bold in our intention to grow on a global scale and there is no better place to take the next step on that journey than the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in Mexico City.”

The circuit, built in 1959 and rebuilt in 2015, is an annual stop on the Formula 1 calendar and hosted the NASCAR Xfinity Series from 2005 to 2008. (Picture above).

NASCAR founders Bill France Sr. and Curtis Turner took part in the 1950 La Carrera Panamericana road race through Mexico.

NASCAR has not held an international Cup Series race since July 18, 1958, at Canadian Exposition Stadium in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The first international Cup Series race was held on July 1, 1952, at Stamford Park, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

“At OCESA we are committed to entertaining people, and that has made us the most powerful live event platform in Mexico and Latin America, and one of the most important worldwide,” said Alejandro Soberon, founder and CEO of OCESA. “The arrival of the NASCAR Cup Series in our country reflects the significant growth that motorsport has experienced in Mexico, a success in which Escuderia Telmex has played an important role by promoting the NASCAR Mexico Series and supporting drivers like Daniel Suarez.”

Mexico joins a number of other events confirmed for the 2025 season. NASCAR has already announced the dates for The Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium (February 2), the Daytona 500 (February 16), the All-Star Race (May 18), the Coca-Cola 600 (May 25), Atlanta Motor Speedway (June 28) and Phoenix Raceway (November 2).

The full schedule for 2025 has not yet been announced.
