Instagram is introducing Music On Profile to all users worldwide, allowing anyone to add music to their profile – an opportunity for artists!

After testing earlier this year in Brazil, Colombia, the UK, Japan, Thailand, India and Indonesia, Instagram’s Music On Profile feature is now rolling out globally. Added tracks appear below your bio. Visitors can tap to play the 30-second clip of the selected track you selected. Thankfully, songs don’t autoplay. Users can tap through to find Reels with the track.

RouteNote allows users to upload their own music to stores, streaming services and social media platforms for free! If you choose to distribute on Facebook, your music will be available in Facebook Stories, Facebook Reels, Instagram Stories, Instagram Reels and on profiles.

Powered by RouteNote, Music On Profile is a fantastic promotional tool for musicians. You can even showcase an upcoming track by creating a copy of your release and setting an earlier release date for social platforms only.

How to add music to your Instagram profile

Please note that this feature is still in its rollout phase and may not be available to all users on all devices.

• Tap your profile picture at the bottom right of the app and then tap Edit profile
• Knock Add music to your profile
• Tap the plus symbol
• Browse or search for a song, preview it with the play icon and tap to add it
• Move the slider to select the 30-second segment you want to play, then tap Completed
• Confirm your selection with Completed
