Live Tracker: All 11 Detroit Lions cuts until the deadline

(9:04 am) Steven Gilmore will not be included on the 53-man roster this time around, showing the team’s improved depth in the secondary. ESPN reports that the Lions will release Gilmore after the cornerback was added to the original 53-man roster as an undrafted free agent last year. Gilmore appeared in three games as a rookie but was far down the team’s lineup behind players like Kindle Vildor and Khalil Dorsey in the final weeks leading up to the end of training camp. It’s easy to imagine Gilmore being a top priority for the practice squad, but he could have options. — Ben Raven

(7:56 am) The Detroit Lions have begun adjusting their 53-man roster limit, and on Monday they notified 10 players they were releasing. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones, WR Kaden Davis, TE Shane Zylstra, RB Zonovan Knight, CB Rchad Wildgoose, iOL Bryan Hudgson, EDGE Mitchell Agude, LB Ty Summers, DL Pat O’Connor and LS Scott Daly are out, according to various reports. No major surprises there, though Peoples-Jones’ departure is very disappointing. The biggest question mark in the starting lineup is WR3, and Peoples-Jones is exactly what Detroit was looking for on perimeter defense. Except, you know, the whole catching footballs thing. DPJ just didn’t do it nearly enough, and we ended up with a big, fast wide receiver with starting experience among the first released at a completely open position. With CB Emmanuel Moseley (pec) and EDGE John Cominksy (MCL) expected to land on the injured list and OL Christian Mahogany placed on the non-football injured list, there are 24 moves left until the 4 p.m. deadline. Buckle up, it’s going to be a busy day. — Kyle Meinke
