Join us to discuss the final live event of the inaugural Esports World Cup (EWC), which returns next year for a new edition of the great esports event!

Setting the stage

In addition to the action in Rocket League, ESL R1, TEKKEN 8 and PUBG: Battlegrounds, a large part of Sunday was dedicated to summarizing all the important milestones, storylines and highlights of the Esports World Championship.

The main panel was moderated by Quickshot, who was joined by a number of influential figures from the world of esports, including Jeffrey Rietveld and Luke Bennett from Team Redline (ESL R1 Champions). Other guests included popular influencers Sharky, AJ Shabeel, Behzinga, TBJZL and Tyler1, to name a few!

Additionally, a fan zone was set up at Riyadh Boulevard City, featuring pre and post-show entertainment, a huge selection of food and drinks, a hangout area and plenty of immersive booths!

The trophy presentation

One of the most important moments of the evening, the trophy presentation, kicked off the closing ceremony when Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, opened the event with a short speech. He gave a brief overview of the event itself while also declaring: “Tonight is a historic day for esports.”

Ralf then announced the final standings in the Club Championship before inviting His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Al Saud to the stage to present the winners with the fascinating trophy. Here is a quick look at the top three clubs and the points they earned during the 2024 Esports World Championship:

  • Third place – Team BDS (2000 points)
  • Second place – Team Liquid (2545 points)
  • Esports World Cup Club Champions – Team Falcons (5665 points)

An iconic montage dedicated to Team Falcons played as Muhammed Motlaq Almutairi (General Director of Team Falcons), Grant Rousseau (Global Esports Director of Team Falcons) and Musaed Al-Dossary (CEO of Team Falcons) all took to the stage to lift the trophy into the air.

The trophy journey

Musaed Al-Dossary then took the trophy to a series of golf carts parked outside the arena to take it on a tour of the prestigious setting. Meanwhile, the sky lit up with fireworks while viewers at home enjoyed a series of interviews with high-profile attendees such as Britanni Johnson (voice actress for Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Concussion and the EWC ceremony) and Becca Henry (Senior Brand Communications Manager at G2 Esports).

The party

The trophy was then taken to The Venue near Boulevard City, where the closing ceremony took place. A spectacular show with perfectly choreographed dance routines and vivid images opened the final part of the event.

Kid Cudi then came backstage to deliver an incredible performance of his song Memories while a montage of historical gaming components filled the screen behind him. Memories then segued into another hit, Pursuit of Happiness, before Team Falcons were welcomed back on stage.

This time, the entire Team Falcons organization would appear, showcasing the massive staff behind the world champion organization. Then the celebrations would be in full swing as the trophy was raised and golden confetti filled the arena.

The live stream then ended with the message “See you in 2025”, which only increased the anticipation for this annual esports extravaganza. However, the night was far from over for the viewers, as live performances from Kid Cudi, Steve Aoki, Rabeh Saqer and SEVDALIZA, as well as immersive technology and special effects, kept viewers on their toes until the early hours of the morning!
