After a surprising conversation in the Hamptons, Elon Musk makes it clear that he wants to “die” on Mars: “Not the sharpest spies”

Elon Musk appeared as a surprise guest at Michael Milken’s annual Hamptons Prostate Cancer Foundation gala over the weekend to speak to an audience full of fellow billionaires, including Julia Koch, Bill Ackman, Stephen Schwarzman, Rob Citrone and Patrice Motsepe.

Musk – whose technology empire includes Starlink, the satellite service that brought internet to a reclusive Amazon tribe – said the chic Hamptons enclave could use some help.

A spy told Page Six: “One of the highlights of Milken’s extensive one-on-one meeting with Elon was when (Musk) was asked about the success of Starlink and he talked about how bad cell reception was in the Hamptons.”

“I had to answer important texts on the way here and couldn’t… people asked where I was, in Timbuktu?” Musk joked, according to our spy.

According to another source, Musk revealed during his lecture at the Parrish Art Museum that he wanted to “die in a capsule off the coast of Mars.”

The SpaceX pioneer is participating in a race to fly to Mars with the long-term goal of colonizing the planet.

Musk, who recently endorsed Donald Trump, hosted a chat with the Republican candidate on his platform X – and has reportedly offered Kamala Harris the same opportunity.

But a source told us that Musk largely stayed away from politics during his talk in the Hamptons, adding, “There was a brief discussion of global immigration” and education.

A spy on the scene said: “He got a standing ovation from a lot of super-rich financial types.”

Musk’s mother, model Maye Musk, also made a surprise appearance at the charity event, which raised over $3 million for cancer research.

Also spotted were “Cheers” star Kelsey Grammer, as well as Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Tex.), MIT Media Lab star Neri Oxman, Christine Schwarzman and Gina Carithers.

Behind the scenes, we hear that Musk has checked into the Capri Hotel in Southampton, known for its wild pool parties and new late-night club, Ketchy Beach.

We were told that the Tesla billionaire checked in through a back entrance, but his mother came through the lobby.

We heard that after his conversation with Milken, the tech mogul wanted to stop by Ketchy, a branch of the trendy Ketchy Shuby in the city.

A spy tells us: “Outside, a very private area had been set up for him, which they had covered with plants and fabric so that no one could see in.”

The source added that Musk’s “four security guards did a walk-around to check not only for safety, but also to make sure the volume and atmosphere were right.”

There was even a DJ on site for the mogul.

But even though security guards hung around the area for 40 minutes, Musk did not show up, according to our information.

When we contacted Musk, he told us, “These are not the sharpest spies in the camp… There is no ‘shore’ on Mars to die on. Mike Milken simply read an old quote of mine where I said I would gladly die on Mars, but not on impact.”

He also added about his stay in the Hamptons: “My mother was staying with friends. The room I stayed in at the Capri was tiny – and the WiFi is in dire need of an upgrade, as is cell reception in the Hamptons in general. I haven’t been to the Hamptons in many years and was only in the area for about 24 hours at Milken’s request for his cancer foundation.”
