Eastern Economic Forum focuses on development in the Far East and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region

The Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) will take place from 3 to 6 September in Vladivostok. with a focus on the development of the Russian Far East and its integration into the economic space of the Asia-Pacific region. The event, organized by the Roscongress Foundation, includes about 100 business events in a series of Topics.

“The guests of the forum must discuss the picture of the future of the Far East and outline new directions for its development,” said Anton Kobyakov, adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.

Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and Plenipotentiary of the President for the Far Eastern Federal District, stressed the role of the EEF as a platform for developing support measures for the Far East, including areas of advanced development, the Free Port of Vladivostok, the Far Eastern Hectare program and others.

“The EEF has become one of the tools the development of the Far Eastern macro-region,” Trutnev said. “Politicians and representatives of business circles in Russia and dozens of other countries are already aware that the EEF will discuss the most important issues of the development of the Far Eastern Federal District and the entire Asia-Pacific region.”

Trutnev also stressed the importance of the Eastern Economic Forum in the context of the current geopolitical landscape. “Today the world is going through a complex period of development and a new structure of international relations is emerging. The forum will become a platform for strengthening international relations,” he said.

The EEF economic programme is divided into thematic blocks that address key socio-economic trends for Russia and its partners in the Asia-Pacific region and other parts of the world.

The “New Contours of International Cooperation” block focuses on multilateral partnerships within organizations such as BRICS, SCO and EAEU and covers topics such as energy transition, digital currency and infrastructure modernization.

Another important section, “Technologies to ensure independence,” discusses innovations such as cybersecurity, robotics, and the new materials industry.

The focus of the “Financial Value System” track is on intellectual property protection and commercial arbitration in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Eastern Economic Forum will also address domestic Russian issues, including the development of the Far Eastern Federal District in agriculture, tourism, small business and fisheries. The People, Education and Patriotism program focuses on youth development and human capital development.

The focus “Masterplans: From Architecture to Economy” examines instruments for integrated territorial developmentwhile The “Transport and Logistics: New Routes” block will discuss the modernization of the Far Eastern infrastructure, with particular emphasis on the development of the Northern Sea Route and regional aviation.

The Eastern Economic Forum provides a platform for business meetings between Russian entrepreneurs and their counterparts from China, India and ASEAN countries, as well as events for cooperation of international organizations and associations, including the BRICS Creative Business Forum and the APEC International Conference on Cooperation in Higher Education.
