Philadelphia Eagles highs and lows for 2024

Philadelphia Eagles highs and lows for 2024

The Cowboys hold the crown, but the Eagles are considered favorites to win the NFC East, according to espnbet.com. Of course, Philadelphia fell apart in 2023, making them one of the more volatile teams in the NFL.

Training camp and preseason are behind us, and here’s a look at the Eagles’ limits and capabilities as they enter Week 1.

Ceiling: 12-5

According to NFL researchPhiladelphia entered 2023 with the league’s toughest schedule, losing five of its final six regular-season games while still finishing the season with 11 wins. This year, the Eagles have the NFL’s 21st toughest schedule, with their opponents combining for a .491 winning percentage, according to The Sporting News.

They also have two new coaches: offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Moore’s motion-based offense should be exactly what the team needs after playing one of the NFL’s more mediocre systems last season under former OC Brian Johnson.

Former Giant Saquon Barkley can’t hurt either. The 27-year-old running back failed to rush for 1,000 yards last season for only the third time in his career, but still managed 1,242 yards and 10 touchdowns behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league.

As long as he stays healthy, Barkley should be a perfect complement to wide receivers AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith and former commander Jahan Dotson, the No. 16 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and the team’s new No. 3 receiver.

Brown and Smith both received lucrative contract extensions after combining for 187 catches, 2,522 yards and 14 touchdowns last season. Brown finished the season as the league’s fifth-leading receiver and Smith averaged 1,059 yards in three NFL seasons.

As long as quarterback Jalen Hurts can adapt to Moore’s system, there is no reason to believe the Eagles won’t improve on last year’s record.

Floor: 7-12

Philadelphia appears to have one of the league’s better offenses in 2024, but the defense could be a problem. Fletcher Cox, the team’s six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle, retired in the offseason and defensive end Haason Reddick was traded to the Jets.
