Tour of the village of Kohler

Stroll through the Village of Kohler and travel back in time through historical photographs and stories from the Kohler Company archives.

The village of Kohler, originally known as Riverside in the rural town of Sheboygan, was founded in 1900 and received its current name in 1912.

During the tour, archival photos will be shown that show the development of the village and the historical process of town planning in the village, as well as how former Kohler Company Chairman Walter J. Kohler wanted to build an ideal American town outside the gates of the Kohler Company.

During the tour, participants will learn about the Olmsted Brothers’ 1920s master plan while visiting stops between the Waelderhaus and Ravine Park, highlighting the balance between natural beauty and community spaces.
