Given the enormous success in its first week, it’s no surprise that modders are already busy tinkering with Black Myth: Wukong.

Mods so far have ranged from small tweaks to new character models, with the addition of Goku from Dragon Ball Z as the main character perhaps being the most inevitable.

Both Black Myth: Wukong and Dragon Ball Z are based on the Chinese novel Journey to the West, and both Divergent and Goku are based on the character Sun Wukong from the novel.

Modder NorskPL has therefore added Goku as a playable character – his anime style doesn’t quite fit with the game’s beautiful environments, but Dragon Ball fans will surely enjoy it. There is also a second mod that adds the Goku model from Jump Force.

But that’s not all: The same modder also created Darth Maul from Star Wars, whose double-sided lightsaber can easily be swapped out for the Chosen One’s staff.

ApolloHoo, meanwhile, added a glass helmet as a nod to Let Me Solo Her from Elden Ring. But remember: Black Myth: Wukong is not a Soulslike.

Or maybe you’re a Final Fantasy fan? Then maybe you’d like to play as Tifa? Thanks to modder Yui, that’s exactly what you can do.

However, if you are looking for something more useful, modders wmm555 and bilibiliGM have created the Simple Map mod.

So far, the game has been criticized for not including a map, and while the game is mostly linear, it’s still easy to get lost when fast traveling between areas.

The mod adds a full-screen map that players can zoom in and out and display resources. Handy!

Black Myth: Wukong has sold 10 million copies in less than a week. It reached over 2 million concurrent players on its first day on Steam, making it the platform’s most played single-player game of all time.
