WWE confirms commentary lineup for first episode of SmackDown on USA Network

WWE has confirmed who will provide commentary when SmackDown moves to the USA Network next month.

September 13th marks the first of three network moves for the weekly program, as the Friday night show ends its 5-year run on Fox and moves to its new home. On the August 26th episode of Raw, Michael Cole was joined by Corey Graves, who replaced the recently departed Pat McAfee.

Cole had initially stated that they would be seeing a lot more of each other once the show began, but later confirmed on the show that he and Graves would be announcing SmackDown for the first episode. Cole and Graves recently announced WWE PLEs, where McAfee has made occasional guest appearances.

ESPN commentator Joe Tessitore will serve as the lead commentator on Raw beginning September 2. It is currently unknown if Wade Barrett or Graves will also serve as co-commentator.

The change of WWE announcer is only temporary

Although the weekly show’s commentators will be swapped out in September, the upcoming cast changes aren’t set in stone, as more changes will take place in January when Raw moves to Netflix. It was previously announced that Cole and McAfee would reunite for the debut episode of Raw on Netflix and remain on the show going forward.

Although it has not yet been confirmed, reports indicate that Tessitore will serve as the head commentator for SmackDown following the move.

Additionally, a new tournament began on Raw to crown the next challenger to the Intercontinental Championship.
