Olympic triathlon champion and Paris 2024 US star add even more spice as T100 announces incredible Ibiza start list – Triathlon News

Flora Duffy and Taylor Spivey will add even more spice to the incredible women’s entry list for T100 Ibiza next month.

Every single one of the female contract stars currently in the running for the new series has been confirmed for what is expected to be an exciting showdown on Sunday 28 September.

2021 Olympic champion Duffy ended his spectacular short course career with a fifth-place finish behind Cassandre Beaugrand in the French capital, a highly respectable farewell after the Bermudian had to sit out a year with a serious knee injury.

Spivey capped her first Olympics with a silver medal in the U.S. mixed relay that pushed Great Britain into second place behind winners Germany. She joins her Paris teammate Taylor Knibb in a field that includes a galaxy of swimming/cycling/running stars.

Gentle renews rivalry with Knibb

Australian superstar Ashleigh Gentle – who leads the 2024 series overall after her recent success in London – is back in action alongside IRONMAN world champions Lucy Charles-Barclay, Anne Haug and Chelsea Sodaro. German Haug won last year’s race in Ibiza.

Gentle is eager to face Knibb again after being put under pressure by the American’s virtuoso performance at T100 San Francisco in June.

She said: “I have a lot of respect for Taylor and can’t wait to race her again. Competing in two different events at the Paris Olympics (Knibb also competed in the individual time trial in cycling) was impressive. But it sounds like she is looking forward to getting back into the longer races. T100 Series races.

“Their performance in San Francisco set a benchmark, especially on the bike, and we need to maintain that level to remain competitive. I was far from my best in California, but I really enjoyed racing in Ibiza last year and I’m really excited to be back there.”

Great Britain will field a number of top names in Ibiza. Charles-Barclay will be joined by Miami winner India Lee and Kat Matthews (second in San Francisco and third in London). Emma Pallant-Browne and Lucy Byram complete the contingent.

Switzerland’s Imogen Simmonds returns after her great second place in London, while Laura Philipp will be hoping for a place on the podium this time after losing a thrilling battle with Matthews in the British capital.

Canada has a star duo of Paula Findlay and Tamara Jewett vying for glory, while New Zealand has Amelia Watkinson and Marjolaine Pierre represents France.
