A user named ThrowRA-3xbetrayal claims that a DNA test showed that her husband is the father of the two-year-old boy they raised, but that she is not the biological mother.

The The story began 6 years ago when the couple tried to have a child but had no luck. Then the woman learned that she had a “medical condition” that prevented her from carrying a child, which led to a partial hysterectomy. The woman, who describes herself as the family’s “breadwinner,” took on multiple jobs to pay for a surrogate mother to have their child.

“I still had my ovaries, so we started looking into the cost of a surrogate. It’s really expensive! My close friend since college, who already had two children of her own, offered to act as a surrogate for us to reduce the costs. After two disappointing IVF sessions that did not result in pregnancy, she got pregnant on the third try and gave birth to a boy for us,” wrote ThrowRA-3xbetrayal.

The couple was overjoyed after the birth of the boy and the surrogate mother took up an increasingly larger place in their lives.

“My girlfriend and my husband started talking more and sometimes I would come home from my weekend job and find her already hanging out at our house when my husband was there,” wrote ThrowRA-3xbetrayal. “I dismissed it as harmless and it’s good for her to know my husband better since she was in the process of carrying our child for us. I was grateful to have someone to help us have a child.”

But the mother became suspicious because the baby had brown eyes, while her and her husband’s eyes were blue.

The mother took the child to the doctor and received devastating news. She learned that her son’s blood type is B+, while his father’s is O+ and she is A+. The doctor said it was “biologically impossible” for her son to have that blood type, considering his parents’ blood type.

ThrowRA-3xbetrayal felt the fertility clinic had made a terrible mistake. She did a DNA test and found out that her husband was the boy’s father, but she was not the mother. “My husband then confessed that he had slept with my friend (our surrogate) several times during our struggle to get her pregnant with our embryos,” ThrowRA-3xbetrayal wrote. “This means that what I thought was our son, conceived through artificial insemination and carried by a surrogate, is not my son at all and was in fact conceived the old-fashioned way, which I can never do.”

The woman says the terrible news felt like a triple betrayal. She has decided to divorce her husband and renounce all parental rights to the child. Her husband, the surrogate mother and her family all agree that giving up rights to the child she has raised for two years is wrong.

The most popular commenter said she should sue the surrogate for taking her money without having her baby. “One of the things that upsets me is that you had additional jobs to pay for the surrogacy, which I assume included her medical bills and financial support. I would talk to a lawyer about suing her for your money back. She knew that if she had sex, there was always a possibility that the child was biologically hers,” they wrote.

Another affirmed the wife’s decision to leave her husband and give up any parental rights. “He cheated on you…it’s not yours. I’m going to tell you exactly what I tell men who post this. It would be wonderful if you love the child enough to stay, but if you’re too shocked and hurt to do that, you’re not the asshole to walk away,” she wrote.

Another pointed out that no one would judge a man in that situation for giving up his parental rights. “If those roles were reversed and you were a man saying his wife cheated on him and had another man’s baby, people would have no problem telling him he has the right to leave and have nothing to do with the child if he doesn’t want to,” the commenter wrote.
