Cam Newton, father of 8 children, and his girlfriend dance against the resistance because they want more children without getting married
Athlete and podcaster Cam Newton is being criticized for his statements on fatherhood and marriage, and the former NFL quarterback’s girlfriend, comedian Jasmin “Watch Jazzy” Brown, is also feeling the negative reactions.
On the August 23 episode of Cam Newton’s “Funky Friday” show, the father of eight spoke about his desire to have more children.
“And that’s the kicker, I want more,” revealed 35-year-old Atlanta native Cheyenne Bryant as they talked about children. His guest, self-proclaimed psychology expert Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, then asked, “From multiple women? What’s the intention? Or from your wife?”
Cam Newton currently has eight children from three different women. Earlier this year, Jasmin Brown gave birth to his youngest child. Newton explained why he hoped to have more children without officially getting married.
“I just want God to bring her to me. What I’m saying is, my desire to get married is less than my fear of divorce,” Cam Newton said.
When Newton explained that he was “taking his time,” Dr. Bryant countered. “You don’t take your time. You’re very action-oriented,” she said. “You have eight children with three different women. You conceive, procreate and reproduce. You don’t take your time. You’re very selectively active.”
She further explained that Newton’s mindset was to “create broken families for selfish reasons” and that the children ultimately suffered because of his “inferior behavior.”
Clippings of the former Carolina Panthers player’s comments began circulating online, resurfacing some of his girlfriend’s old comments from Shan Boodram’s “Lovers & Friends” webcast.
In 2022, Jasmin Brown admitted that she loves Newton being pampered and enjoys playing a submissive role for him. Brown was harshly criticized by social media users at the time. Once again, the internet personality came under fire for her apparent reaction to her boyfriend’s latest viral moment.
According to Hollywood Unlocked, Brown posted a caption on her Instagram story that could have been her subtle response to people questioning Cam Newton’s decision not to marry her. She wrote, “Yo (people) are really taking their assumptions to a new level!”
Instagram commenters shared their thoughts on Cam Newton and Jasmin Brown’s respective remarks, with one person responding, “No assumptions are made ma’am your husband said it himself lol.”
Someone else commented: “The red flag is literally in her face and burning. Ma’am what assumption? HE LITERALLY SAID THAT.” Another Instagram user added: “For some reason she really thinks she’s the exception to the rule… she’s going to ask for privacy soon.”
Cam Newton has four of his children with his ex-girlfriend Kia Proctor. The NFL’s most valuable player in 2015 admitted to cheating on Proctor and fathering a child with Instagram model La Reina Shaw.
“My long-term girlfriend at the time (Kia Proctor), you know, we had a family. And I made a mistake, I hurt her and I put our family at risk at the time and I had a child outside of our relationship,” Newton said on “The Pivot Podcast” in 2022.
Cam Newton and Kia Proctor were together from 2013 to 2019. In addition to their four children together, Newton claims Proctor’s eldest daughter from a previous relationship as his own.
He also claims that he is La Reina Shaw’s eldest son from a previous relationship. Jasmin Brown and Cam Newton began appearing publicly as a couple in 2022. They had their first child together in March 2024.
“When I was 7 or 12 years old, I wanted to have a family. I wanted to be married, have a house, a picket fence and all that. But that just wasn’t what I was doing in life. I’m proud to say I have eight children,” Newton said on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” in April.
The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback continued, “Six biologically through me. And I don’t believe in stepchildren. What my biological children get, everyone gets. I don’t have favorites. I raise kings and queens and have uncomfortable conversations with my children.”
