LAPD asks for help in finding three missing girls – NBC Los Angeles

Family members and police asked for help Monday in locating a newborn baby with a heart condition and his young mother who disappeared in east Los Angeles on Sunday.

Fourteen-year-old Amoria Brown and her three-week-old daughter Omoria were last seen on Sunday around 9 p.m. in the 5200 block of East Huntington Drive. They were presumably traveling with their family to the high desert north of Los Angeles, the LAPD said in a Press release which contained photos of the missing girl.

Omoria, the newborn, suffers from a heart condition and requires daily medication, police said. Brown’s family said the young mother left without taking the baby’s medication.

“It’s just a lot right now. I’m trying to process it all,” said Raquel Brown, Amoria’s guardian. “I just want the baby to be OK. She’s not a bad mother. I’m not going to say she’s bad. She’s young. I can’t expect her to change overnight, so I want to make that clear, but I’m here to help.”

According to Raquel, the girl called her family to let them know she and the baby were OK. Her whereabouts remain unknown, although relatives believe she is heading toward the High Desert.

When police first released the disappearance report, it included a missing 15-year-old girl described as Brown’s sister-in-law. Her family says she has since been reunited with her relatives.

Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact detectives at 213-479-2827, 911 or LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
