Jared McCain had little trouble recruiting Bronny James for a viral TikTok.
At a performance on Podcast P with Paul George Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment, the Philadelphia 76ers first-round pick talked about creating a TikTok with the Los Angeles Lakers rookie while they were at the McDonald’s High School All-American Game:
“It was pretty easy,” McCain said. “I had everything prepared and then he knew the dance. I asked him, ‘Do you want to be in it?’ and he said, ‘Yes.’ So it was pretty easy. It takes about five seconds, people think it takes all day.”
McCain has amassed 3.7 million followers on the platform, but his skills on the basketball court are also notable. The 76ers selected him with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft after one season with the Duke Blue Devils.
At Duke, he averaged 14.3 points, five rebounds and 1.9 assists in 36 games. He was named ACC All-Freshman and NCAA All-Region after helping lead the Blue Devils to the Elite Eight.
He will play alongside George in Philadelphia as the 76ers look to improve after their first-round exit in the 2023-24 postseason.
James was selected by the Lakers with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and will form the first father-son duo in NBA history with his father, 20-time All-Star LeBron James. In 25 games for the USC Trojans during the 2023-24 season, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 assists and 2.1 assists.
McCain and James will face each other twice in 2024-25, the first time on November 8.
