Island City Stage presents: DIE, MOMMY, DIE!

Don’t miss Island City Stage’s thrilling production of “Die, Mommie, Die!” by Charles Busch, running now through September 22.

Off-Broadway star Kris Andersson (aka Dixie Longate) takes the art of drag to new heights as Angela Arden, an aging kitten with a witty sense of humor, wrestles with middle age and murderous intent in wacky melodrama. See photos below!

Former pop singer Angela Arden is trapped in a hated marriage with Sol. But in her desperate hope of finding happiness with her young lover Tony, Angela murders her husband with a poisoned suppository. Her children are suspicious of their mother and inject her with LSD, triggering a wild LSD trip in which many secrets come to light.

Die, Mommy, Die! was first performed by Kenneth Elliott and Don Fairbanks at the Coast Playhouse in Los Angeles in 1999. The play opened Off-Broadway at the New World Stages in New York City in October 2007. It was directed by Carl Andress and starred author Charles Busch, Bob Ari, Van Hansis, Chris Hoch, Ashley Morris and Kristine Nielson. The play was also made into a film in 2003, with Busch playing the lead role.

“Die, Mommie, Die!” is directed by Andy Rogow of Island City Stage, and stars Andersson, Clay Cartland, Troy J. Stanley, Elizabeth Dimon, Kevin Veloz and Suzanna Ninomiya.

Die, Mommy, Die! is co-produced by the Warten Foundation. Costume sponsors are DC Allen and Ken Flick and lighting and sound sponsor is Vic Smith. Additional funding is provided by: The Our Fund Foundation, The Schubert Foundation Inc., The SHS Foundation, The Maval Foundation and the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council.
