Man convicted of death of 9-year-old girl

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Demario Williams, one of three defendants in connection with the shooting death of a 9-year-old girl last year, was sentenced Monday in Hamilton County court.

Williams was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. He was charged with, among other things, tampering with evidence and aggravated assault with a vehicle in connection with the shooting of Da’Myiah Barton Pickens. Pickens was killed on July 10, 2023, in a home on Plainfield Road.

Prosecutors say Quaassem Dixon and Ryan Brown drove up to the house in a car and started shooting at the two. Pickens, who was shooting videos with a friend, was shot in the chest and died in the hospital.

They say Dixon and Brown were targeting someone who had robbed them and was not home at the time. The next day, officers were investigating the crime scene when Dixon and Brown spotted them riding in a car driven by Williams. Williams drove off, crashed into another vehicle, injuring the driver, and left the scene.

Dixon and Brown face several charges, including aggravated murder.
