Release date for episode 15 of season 7 of “My Hero Academia” confirmed

At first I was annoyed about My Hero Academia for turning my back on the battle between Izuku and Shigaraki, aka “All for One,” aka Shigaraki’s inner traumatized child. But by the end of Season 7’s 14th episode, “Together with Shoji,” I was completely hooked. Now I just want more.

I’ve never thought much about Mezo Shoji, mainly because he’s never been a major focus of the series. At times I thought his power was a bit like body horror, which I now feel deeply guilty about, because last week’s episode was about the persecution suffered by heteromorphs – people whose appearance deviates significantly from a “typical” human body due to their peculiarities.

But of course this is the world of My Hero Academia we are talking about. For us, it may seem like a blurred line when we talk about a “typical” human body in a world where a human being can be made of wood. But that is the nature of discrimination – that line is always arbitrary. Which makes the abominable treatment of people on the other side even more abominable.

The battle for and among heteromorphs continues

“Together With Shoji” was an incredibly insightful episode. It focused on the discrimination – often violent – that people face in My Hero Academia‘s world, which are heteromorphs. The result was incredibly profound and showed once again the dangers of mob mentality. Because while the huge mob that has gathered in the hospital feels that Shoji’s appeal is justified, that storming this hospital habit Help prevent heteromorphs from being discriminated against. The speech was forceful, like trying to stop a wind-up toy after it has moved once in the air.

As with many of his darker sociopolitical themes, My hero has been touching on this topic for some time. For example, last season we met a very nice lady who said no home would take her because she’s heteromorphic. There was also a lot of discussion about Spinner, who has become something of a heteromorphic hero. However, he’s now bloated from gigantization and drools incessantly from overstimulation. It’s hard to watch.

But we’ll keep watching because we want to know what happens in the fight for the hospital. In a turn of events that is, at least in the US, pretty uncomfortably close to reality, the police, trying to control the heteromorphic crowd, just started firing shots. And as we know from reality, that never ends well.

Episode 15 of the 7th season of My Hero Academia will be released at 5:30pm in Japan, which means it will be available to watch on Crunchyroll sometime around 4:30am ET / 1:30am Pacific Time. A treat for all the night owls and early risers out there!
