Wrestling legend Sid Eudy – also known as “Sycho Sid” – has died at the age of 63 after a long battle with cancer, according to his family.

Eudy’s son Gunnar posted on Facebook: “Dear friends and family, I am deeply saddened to announce that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after a years-long battle with cancer. He was a strong, kind and loving man and we will miss his presence greatly.”

“We thank you for your thoughts and prayers in our grief. Details of a memorial service will be announced shortly. Thank you for your support.”

WWE also commented on the news and wrote on X: “WWE is saddened to hear of the passing of Sid Eudy. WWE extends its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends and fans.”

Eudy, also known as “Sid Vicious” and “Sid Justice”, played in the WWF (now WWE) and WCW, making his WCW debut in 1989.

With a massive height of 2.06 meters, he has made a lasting name for himself as a six-time world champion – including twice in the WWF and twice in the WCW.

The official WWE website states that if it weren’t for his leg injury in 2001, Sid “could probably compete with the best in WWE history.”

Eudy, who was born in West Memphis, Arkansas in 1960, also headlined two WrestleManias, facing the likes of Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan.

Tributes poured in for the popular wrestler, and Eudy’s former colleague Marc Mero wrote a touching tribute to X.

“So sad to hear that my friend and wrestling superstar Sid Eudy (Sid Vicious & Sid Justice) has passed away from cancer at the young age of 63,” he wrote.

“He was one of the first wrestlers I wrestled when I auditioned for WCW. What a great guy. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and his millions of fans.”

The fans also found some nice words about the former wrestling star.

“Rest in peace, a legend who doesn’t get enough recognition in the industry,” said one.

“My childhood heroes are dying and it hurts,” added another.

“He left this world by continuing to fight,” wrote another well-wisher. “I remember his fight with (Heart Break Kid) Shawn Michaels. We will always miss him.”
