Steam user unlocks achievement in a game he hasn’t played in 3 years

A Steam user recently somehow managed to unlock an achievement in 7 days to die although I haven’t played the game for more than three years. A small update for 7 days to die was released in August, fixing bugs and making other improvements to the title.

Developed by the Texas studio The Fun Pimps, 7 days to die is a survival horror game set after a theoretical World War III that broke out nuclear. After being in Early Access since late 2013, the Unity-based experience released version 1.0 in July and reached a record 125,000 concurrent players on Steam. Some players on Valve’s platform who did not return, 7 days to die after the full release were apparently still affected by the game’s latest updates, as they received achievements from the game without even having launched The Fun Pimps’ popular open-world shooter.


In a recent Reddit post, user elJanne revealed that he had managed to 7 days to die‘s “Bite the dust” achievement on Steam, despite not having played the game since July 2021. A photo shared by elJanne showed that the achievement was achieved after the game received its last update, the v1.0 b336 hotfix, which went live on August 15. Some community members claimed that this incident could have been caused by the full release of 7 days to diewhile others believe it was simply a delayed unlock of the achievement.


7 Days to Die – Steam Achievement Bug


Version 1.0 of 7 days to die introduced a new armor system, better graphics, and tons of additional game content, among other things. Hotfix b336 fixed several bugs, including one that caused some characters in save games to be completely disabled and unresponsive. The small patch also brought stability improvements to the console versions of the game, particularly the Xbox Series X/S ports.

From the launch of the title in 2024 to the end of 2025, The Fun Pimps plans to release three major updates for 7 days to dieaccording to a roadmap that the developer previously published. The first of these updates, which is expected to be released around the last quarter of this year, will finally enable cross-platform play 7 days to die. It will also include a wardrobe system, as well as overhauls for weather and biome progression.


7 days to die is currently one of the best-selling games on Steam, according to analytics tracker SteamDB. The title has a very positive overall rating based on more than 230,000 reviews.
