Fiery, explosive flamenco show lights up the Chilliwack stage

The sights and sounds of flamenco are in the air when a Spanish performance comes to Chilliwack.

Vengo Jondoa show by the Marco Flores Dance Company, will be performed at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on September 16.

Flamenco dancer Marco Flores will take the stage for an evening of dancing in what is described as a “fiery and explosive” performance.

The dance company crosses cultural boundaries, using powerful dance, evocative music and soulful storytelling in their shows. Flores himself is one of the leading flamenco dancers of the time, renewing traditional flamenco dance with both his classical training and his visionary style.

Vengo Jondo is based on the two elements that have always been present in flamenco: cante and toque. On this traditional basis, Flores will show the genius of his work by giving it a modern and contemporary touch. By dancing through different cante with an ease that few master, Flores will demonstrate his cultural and family heritage on which he has built his dance.

Through powerful footwork, soulful melodies and electrifying energy, Vengo Jondo celebrates the tradition of flamenco, an art that perfectly embodies the emotion and intensity of the human experience.

“Vengo Jondo” uses the relationship between dancer and guitarist to show why Flores is one of the most respected flamenco dancers of our time.

Vengo Jondo with Marco Flores comes to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on September 16 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $49 with discounts for Patron Program participants and can be purchased online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).
