Schoolgirl in Mumbai beaten and kicked by a group of girls

A schoolgirl is beaten up by a group of girls. They are all minors

According to a disturbing video from Mumbai, a group of girls kicked, punched, elbowed and dragged a schoolgirl by her hair after an argument.

The incident, which occurred two weeks ago, was reported from Yari Road in Versova.

The disturbing, foul-mouthed video shows a group of girls mercilessly beating a girl in her school dress, even as she falls to the ground. The attackers and the victim are all minors.

The girl stands up, puts her hand to her head and goes to her friend. At that moment, one of the attackers shouts “idhar aa, idhar aa (Come here, come here)” and follows it with a curse word.

Nobody intervenes. Some people stay on their scooters and watch what is happening. A gas bottle delivery man stops his bike and watches what is happening from a distance.

“Paani main dal (Throw her in the water),” shouted another. They again join forces and pull her to the ground, and again she is punched and kicked, as shown in the video. The victim is violently dragged around. One attacker climbs on her back, as seen in the video, and starts hitting her furiously.

A boy gets in, pulls the girl up and tells her to go away.

Counselling of all the girls and their parents was conducted by officials of Versova Police Station and Sneha Foundation with the assistance of Child Protection Committee. The concerned school principals were also informed about the incident.

“We are investigating who circulated the video,” police said.

In a series of messages on X, the police said, “After learning about a video of the attack on a girl in Versova circulating on the internet, the Nirbhaya Unit (Special Unit for Prevention of Crimes against Women and Children) launched an investigation. During the investigation, it was found that all the girls seen in the video are minors and belong to the same locality. A dispute over a minor issue led to a fight between them.”

The Nirbhaya force is closely monitoring the matter and patrolling at the spot has been increased, police said.
