PGA Tour: Top 30 reach FedEx Cup final in Atlanta

The PGA Tour’s season race takes place this week at East Lake Golf Club, where the final of the FedEx Cup, the Tour Championship, will be held.

Last week, number 50 Keegan Bradley went from last place to the top when he won the BMW Championship and secured a place in the top 30.

It’s the final playoff event of the season and there’s so much money at stake. The winner of the Tour Championship will receive $25 million in bonus money, an increase of $7 million from 2023.

The runner-up will receive $12.5 million. Third place will receive $7.5 million. And the craziest part is that the top 12 finishers will receive a seven-figure check.

There was activity among the top 30 players: four players dropped out and four new ones took their place.

Let’s take a look at the new top 30 who will play in Atlanta this week. After looking at the official list, we’ll discuss who was eliminated and who took their place.

Who has fallen out of the FedEx Cup top 30 rankings?

Four players fell out of the top 30 to make way for Chris Kirk, Tommy Fleetwood, Bradley and Scott.

The four players who will not compete in Atlanta are Brian Harman at No. 31, Jason Day at No. 33, Davis Thompson at No. 34 and Denny McCarthy at No. 35.

Harman finished 25th at the BMW Championship. Day finished T-33, Thompson T-41 and McCarthy T-26. Those finishes weren’t enough points to keep these guys in the finish.

This year is the second year in a row that McCarthy has narrowly missed out on making the top 30.

The top 30 of the 2024 Tour Championship is full of young and experienced talent, and they’re competing for big money. Not to mention, they all want to be the guy who calls himself a FedEx Cup champion.
