Siddaramaiah to BJP on allegations of document forgery at MUDA

(MENAFN-IANS) Bengaluru, Aug 26 (IANS) – While denying document tampering in the MUDA case, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday asked the BJP to take off the glasses of “hatred” and look at the documents with clear eyes.

“This video clearly shows what is written under the white ink. Remove the lens of hatred and see it with clear eyes. My wife has asked for alternative land in the plan developed by MUDA in the 3rd phase of Devanur or is there any other parallel plan developed by the authority after MUDA acquired the land,” the chief minister said in a video message he posted on X.

The BJP alleges that ink remover was used to erase keywords from the application filed by Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi in the MUDA case.

“In my wife’s application for replacement land for the property that MUDA illegally took from our family, only four or five words were painted over in white ink, and yet the BJP and JD-S leaders are behaving as if it is a serious crime,” the Prime Minister said in the video message.

He said since there were no plots available in that area, the words “in Devanur 3rd Stage Layout or elsewhere” were painted over in white ink and she had applied for a plot in a parallel layout developed by the authority. There was no notice, order or instruction in this regard. She had simply applied for a plot on her own land.

“Now what do these self-proclaimed legal experts have to say who were shouting that white ink was used to cover up the matter? They claimed that Siddaramaiah’s wife had asked for a plot in Vijayanagar and that someone supporting him had applied the white ink after the MUDA issue came up. It seems that some of these so-called intellectuals have disgraced themselves in their haste,” he said.

He added that the BJP and JD-S leaders have wrongly portrayed me and my family as criminals with the help of fabricated stories and without any sense of responsibility.

“Today they are exposed before the public. That is the truth. It may take some time for it to come to light, but in the end the truth always wins,” said the Prime Minister.

Reacting to this development, one of the petitioners, Snehamayi Krishna, said that the accused has provided evidence to support the allegations against him.

“The ink remover is being used to hide the lines saying ‘Seeking alternative sites in Devanuru third phase or’. This is being done out of fear that MUDA will allot land in Devanuru third phase,” he said.

He said that instead of getting land for the development of the third phase of Devanuru, Siddaramaiah was illegally allotted land in the upscale residential area of Vijayanagara in Mysuru.

“Siddaramaiah has agreed to conceal the truth. I thank CM Siddaramaiah for revealing the truth to the people of Karnataka,” he said.

The BJP has asked the Chief Minister to resign over the MUDA land dispute after Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot agreed to an inquiry against him in the case.

The Chief Minister received temporary relief from the Karnataka High Court till August 29.
