EAST PEORIA (25News Now) – Late Thursday night, a speeding car crashed into a wall behind a fast food restaurant in East Peoria.

The occupant of the car was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but the person’s condition is unknown, according to a news release from the East Peoria Fire Department.

Witnesses said the car sped through the intersection of Main Street and Springfield Road, striking another car. The speeding car then reportedly struck a curb near Popeyes, rolled across the parking lot and landed rooftop on the side of Hardee’s near the drive-thru.

The fire department said they had to free the person from the vehicle.

The manager of Hardee’s told 25News that none of his employees were injured.

Firefighters and police officers from East Peoria were on scene along with the Illinois State Police.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
