Umass vs. Rutgers Football Brawl: So I watched the Rutgers vs. Umass game.

So I watched the Rutgers vs. UMass women’s soccer game this afternoon to fulfill my annual quota of one game before it officially starts, and I fell off the couch when I saw these women act. Well, they acted unladylike! I haven’t seen a fight like this since Jose Ramirez knocked out Tim Anderson last baseball season.

But he was a boy. Not ideal, but nothing we’ve ever seen before. But after watching this clip less than 100 times, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such a legitimate controversy in women’s sports outside of MMA. And speaking of the 100 times I’ve watched this clip… I still can’t figure out who started it. As far as I can tell, No. 2 Rutgers sacked the girl from UMass. The ref blows his whistle and another girl from UMass runs to pick up the ball and join in the fight. But the girl from Rutgers puts her foot on it, which shoves the girl from UMass a little, which shoves the girl from Rutgers some more, which shoves the girl from UMass some more… Then our beloved No. 2 hip-slams him to the ground and one hell of a punch goes off. I guess if No. 2 isn’t dishonest, none of this happens? But maybe she wouldn’t have found out if the girl from UMass hadn’t joked…that Gia Girman could damn well fight.

5’2″? That’s a real little ball of anger. She’ll pat my ass, I can tell you that. And if MLS or whatever it’s called doesn’t work out, I think he could have a bright future in the UFC. Rutgers fans have posted on his NIL page if any of you are interested in pursuing that career.

But to add to the matter, I’m not sure what happens next. What is going on in women’s soccer these days to kick someone’s ass? The clip looks like they just had to take her out on their own. I think he needs more of a police escort after that move. Either way, Girman won the battle…but it looks like UMass won the war.
