Door and Kewaunee counties plan water testing in fall

Homeowners in Door and Kewaunee counties have the option to have their well water tested to ensure its safety. In Kewaunee County, water samples can be sent to multiple locations to increase participation in the name of cost savings. The county offered a discount on the tests in May, but they were not free as in previous cases. As a result, only 105 samples were collected, with more than a third of those coming from the city of Lincoln. Davina Bonness, director of land and water conservation for Kewaunee County, said during the Land and Water Conservation Committee meeting this month that she is working with the Environmental Protection Agency and UW-Stevens Point on the fall testing, which requires more moving parts but costs less for homeowners.
