Simone Biles gets emotional as her parents perform an enchanting dance: “47 years strong”

Simone Biles has had a whirlwind summer, cheered on by her country, family and the world as she took home four medals at the Paris Olympics earlier this month. But her adoration for her mother and father really shows that she has a heart of gold as well as gold medals.

Considered the GOAT of gymnastics (and a true beauty icon), the iconic athlete is practically a newlywed, having married Chicago Bears star Jonathan Owens last April. And it’s clear who she models her #couplegoals after: her mom and dad, Ronald and Nellie Biles, who have been together for nearly half a century.

On August 24, the Olympic champion posted a video of her parents dancing on Instagram for her father’s 75th birthday. “47 years strong,” she wrote under the clip and added a series of emotional emojis. “My parents are so sweet.”

Simone was touched when her father Ronald celebrated his 75th birthday with a dance with her mother Nellie and shared the moment on Instagram

Simone’s father’s official birthday was celebrated in Paris on August 8, as he and Nellie watched their daughter – the most successful gymnast of all time – win three golds and one silver at the Paris Games. However, the family held another celebration later that month.

Ronald and Nellie – who are actually Simone’s grandparents – adopted her and her younger sister Adria after their own daughter, who is now separated from Simone, was no longer able to care for the little girls. At the time, future gymnast Simone was just six years old.

The couple – technically Simone’s grandparents – adopted the gymnast and her little sister when the girls’ biological mother was no longer able to care for them.

And today, decades later, the two are beaming with pride at their daughter’s achievements, and 27-year-old Simone has just as much respect for her.

In 2021, Simone showed her love for mom and dad on Instagram, sharing a snap of Ronald and Nellie giving her a kiss and a hug as she beamed with happiness. “Appreciation post for my sweet parents,” Simone wrote.

“Thank you for making sacrifices since day one so I could live my dream. But most of all, thank you for always being there for me through all the ups and downs. You are the absolute best. I love you all.”

After an exciting Olympic Games in Paris, Simone is back in Chicago to support her husband

In the meantime, Simone and her husband Jonathan are laying the foundation for their young marriage. The Bears safety was able to travel to Paris and take time off from preseason training to watch his talented wife compete in the Olympics. Now Simone is back in Chicago supporting her husband.

This year, ahead of her father’s birthday party in Paris – where Ronald celebrated with the family in a Cleveland Browns football jersey and bright orange shorts – Simone posted a tribute to Jonathan, who celebrated his own big day in July. “Happy birthday to my husband, best friend, confidant and party animal. Thank you for being the calm in my storm! I love you with all my heart and can’t wait to see what this year brings! Let’s rock it baby.”

Simone has revealed that she won’t be attending as many of Jonathan’s games as she would like in the coming months – she will be busy with the Gold Over America Tour, which begins on September 16th.

And Simone has done great things so far: She took home the gold medal(s) and celebrated her parents’ love story. Now all that remains is to wait and see if the Bears win a Super Bowl in the future.

However, Simone has revealed that she won’t be appearing in as many matches, at least early in the season. She will be busy with the Gold Over America Tour, which begins September 16 in Oceanside and ends in Detroit in November.

Simone has been happily married to Jonathan since April 22, 2023. The couple met more than three years earlier on the dating app Raya – “I didn’t know who she was,” he later told Texas Monthly. “I had just never heard of her, and when I told her that, that was one of the things she liked” – and got engaged when the NFL player proposed to her in 2022.
