A 12-year-old Texas girl has reportedly died after her parents attempted to treat her life-threatening injuries with smoothies and vitamins.

The child was identified as Miranda Sipps and she was a cheerleader at Jourdanton Junior High School.

Sipps was injured on August 8

Sipps was injured last Thursday, according to the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office.

The 12-year-old suffered life-threatening and serious injuries and was taken home by her mother and stepfather, where they allegedly tried to treat her with smoothies and vitamins, according to the ^ “New York Post: The New York Post”.

At some point, the parents also tried to give him oxygen, the sheriff said.

Parents called the police on August 12

Sipps’ mother, 36-year-old Denise Balbaneda, called 911 and said her daughter was having trouble breathing.

Officials and emergency responders found Balbaneda on the side of the road as she attempted to drive her daughter to the hospital herself.

The child was then taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Parents charged and imprisoned

Balbaneda and 40-year-old Gerald Gonzales were accused and arrested on Tuesday.

Both were charged with causing great bodily injury to a child by omission, according to the sheriff’s office. Their bail was set at $200,000 each.

How Sipps was injured is still unclear

The injuries that led to Sipps’ death have yet to be disclosed, according to investigators, as the investigation is ongoing.
