HYDRA to remove companies from Hussain Sagar buffer zone: Lawmaker to CM

Hyderabad: Congress MPs Lakshman Kumar and Jeevan Reddy wrote to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday, August 26, urging him to direct the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) to demolish structures of companies within the buffer zone of Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad, which the Telangana state government had earlier approved.

They stressed that the late Khairatabad MP P. Janardhan Reddy had earlier taken up the issue and underlined the need for immediate action to dismantle these structures.

The letter pointed out that illegal construction in water resource areas had caused hardship among farmers and fishermen who depend on these resources.

The lawmakers called for extending the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to the state level to comprehensively address this problem.

They urged collectors across the state to take action against illegal constructions in the buffer zones around all water bodies, including lakes and ponds.
