A popular overseas influencer has died after reportedly taking painkillers for a severe hangover, leaving her grieving partner lamenting he will never kiss her again.

In her adopted home of China, the 31-year-old is known online as “Nana.” According to her partner, she was in a coma for 38 days before she died on May 5.

The influencer originally comes from Russia and moved to Guizhou Province in southeast China last year to study. There she fell in love with local tattoo artist Wang Tao and decided to stay in the country with him.

Her love story soon made her famous on Chinese social media and she became known as “Russian Nana”.

On Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, she had over 60,000 followers who followed her updates about her new life.

On March 27, the couple went out for a drink with friends in the afternoon, but Nana became ill that evening. Sensing a severe hangover coming on, the young woman reportedly took painkillers and lay down. However, she was later taken to hospital unconscious.

She fell into a coma and died 38 days later, according to media reports.

Tao announced her death in a short video on Douyin on May 6.

He shared pictures of himself kissing his partner’s forehead in the hospital with the message: “Nana has left us forever.

“The kiss yesterday was her last kiss of her lifetime… I will never be able to kiss Nana again, never again.”

It is unclear whether authorities are investigating the influencer’s death.
