Tom Daley and Noah Williams of the British team won silver in the men’s synchronized diving from the 10-meter platform at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

For 30-year-old Daley, the first British diver to compete in five Olympic Games, it is the fifth medal in as many Games.

China won gold with 490.35 points thanks to Junjie Lian and Hao Yang, ahead of Great Britain with 463.44 points. Canadians Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor-Murray came third.

“To win silver today was just amazing,” said her coach Jane Figueiredo. “China was just too good for us, but we persevered and I’m just so proud.”

Daley won bronze in the 10-meter platform diving at London 2012 and in the 10-meter synchronized diving at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

At the postponed 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, he won gold in the same discipline and also bronze from the 10-meter platform.

The 24-year-old Williams will also compete in the 10-meter stage alongside fellow Briton Kyle Kothari. The competition begins on August 9.

Daley and Williams continued their successful time in the pool for Team Great Britain’s diving squad after Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper took bronze in the women’s 3m synchronized springboard on Saturday.

Team GB have now won five medals at the Paris Olympics but are still waiting for their first gold. That could come later on Monday in the men’s eventing or mountain biking.
